Poems and Lyrics

Before I started writing stories, I was an award winning poet, then a lyricist. It's been an incredible amount of time since I have written a poem or song lyrics, but I will always remember how poems and lyrics were my start in becoming a writer. And on a personal note, poems are one of the reasons why me any my wife started to get to know each other. I don't know if I will ever go back into that kind of writing, because I am now a storyteller.

But anyways, for a few days, I'm going to be posting former poems and song lyrics on this blog, and who knows, I may write some songs in the future (I may be writing a TV series that deal with singing, spoiler alert?).

The first poem I'm writing is probably the oldest one that I still have. I was a 13 or 14 year old when I first wrote this, and you may be able to see that from the writing style.

Change

Its change
Nothing is going to be the same
Wake up
Reality slapped you in the face
Move forward
That all you can do in this life

It's a mystery
Why do we have to go through these things?
Its change
It's a test of life we have to pass

A piece of me left
I have to build another one
But I hate the way I feel inside
Can it stay the same one more day?
I wasn't ready to move on
With my life

It's a mystery
Why do we have to go through these things?
Its change
It's a test of life we have to pass

Help me
Change is way to hard to handle
Love is strong
I don't want to lose another
It's change
We all have to go through it someday

It's a mystery
Why do we have to go through these things?
Its change
It's a test of life we have to pass
